Least Bittern & Yellow-crowned Night-Heron at Colonel Sam Smith Park

This juvenile Least Bittern concentrated on finding food and appeared oblivious to those watching it at a safe distance across water. The colours of its plumage were a rich chestnut and buffy yellow. The feather edges were quite worn. Colonel Sam Smith Park on 14 September 2014.

It appears to have grey feathers on the crown. It is greyer overall than juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron, which is brown.
