Killdeer Foot-tapping at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto

This Killdeer was patting the soft mud with one foot in a quivering motion to help it find food. Plovers and other birds do it to bring their prey within easy reach. This behaviour is called Foot-tapping or foot-pattering or foot trembling. Flooded beach at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto on 11 August 2019.

Plovers in particular do this, so do other shorebirds and other species of birds. I'm interested in your observations of this behaviour. Flooded beach at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto on 11 August 2019.
