Merlins Nesting in our Toronto Garden

A pair of Merlins arrived on 30 April 2015 and nested in an old crow's nest at the top of a tall White Pine in our Toronto garden. We expect the young to hatch soon, then we will find out which songbirds they are eating as feathers float down from the nest above. Photo 21 June 2015.

They perch high on dead branches of Sugar Maples in the neighbours' gardens. They are very vocal giving high pitched whinny sounds.

The nest is in an old crow's nest at the top of this White Pine. It's so well hidden, almost impossible to see from the ground.
