Adult Great Black-backed Gull at Heritage Park in Barrie, Ontario on 8 January 2016. This was Ron Pittaway and my 14th trip to Barrie to see the gulls.

An abundance of Emerald Shiners (minnows) and open water on Lake Simcoe (not frozen) in Barrie's Heritage Park is creating an unprecedented Gull Spectacle. Nine species of gulls can be seen easily most days. 8 January 2016.

 

Feeding Frenzy continues at Barrie's Heritage Park on Lake Simcoe. Hundreds of gulls feed on an abundance of Emerald Shiners and dive gannet-style into the water. 8 January 2016. The sounds and excitement were a spectacle of nature. Click to see Video of diving gulls

 

Adult Glaucous Gull. Re bill colour, Howell and Dunn in Gulls of the Americas, page 460 "Bill yellowish (often pinkish from fall into mid winter) with orange-red to red gonydeal spot and often a dark distal spot".
