Piping Plover at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto

UPDATE from Sarah Saunders of Michigan State University: "This bird hatched in 2012 at North Manitou Island, but hasn't been observed nesting anywhere over the years. I wonder if he'll be nesting somewhere over there this year. Please do let us know if you see this bird again and/or paired with any other bird!"

 

Banded Piping Plover at Ashbridges Bay/Woodbine Beach on 24 May 2017. Feeding along shoreline of large lagoon on flooded Woodbine Beach. Walking and feeding, it covers a lot of territory and was unabashed by people and off leash dogs.

 

Semipalmated Plover on left is darker on the upperparts and has darker and wider neck band and facial markings. Ashbridges Bay/Woodbine Beach on 24 May 2017.
