Kumlien's Gulls

Possible European Glaucous Gull: This is possibly an individual from northern Europe. Most European Glaucous Gulls have extensive winter  head streaking (basic plumage) similar to this one. We saw over a 1000 adult Glaucous Gulls - all were white headed to very lightly marked. The above bird also had a brighter yellow bill than most other Glaucous Gulls. 14 January 2007.

10 Black-headed Gulls: looking for a Bonaparte's is the challenge, but none in St. John's this winter. 12 January 2007.
