Red Knots & Other Shorebirds

Many of the Red Knots are already very fat.

 

Adult Red Knot, appears to be a male, needs to fatten up on James Bay before resuming its migration to South America. 11 August 2018.

 

This Red Knot with a dark green flag and white engraving. HCV was flagged at Kimbles Beach, New Jersey on 18 May 2015. It was resighted in 2016 in Mispillion Harbour, Delaware.

Michael Runtz and Isabel Apkarian found this adult Sanderling with white flag for Canada on 6 August 2018. Paul Smith informed us "This Sanderling was banded by the Canadian Wildlife Service this past summer at Polar Bear Pass National Wildlife Area in the Canadian High Arctic."
