Baird's Sandpipers at Blenheim Lagoons

Adult Baird's Sandpiper in breeding plumage at Blenheim Lagoons. Baird's Sandpipers are a rare northbound migrant in Ontario because the majority of Baird's migrate north from South America through the centre of the continent to the breeding grounds in the Arctic.

About 180 Dunlin were in the sprinklers at Blenheim Lagoons, along with 6 Pectoral Sandpipers, 2 Least Sandpipers, 2 Spotted and 5 Lesser Yellowlegs. 30 April 2015, Blenheim Lagoons are on Lagoon Road just west of Blenheim, near Chatham, Ontario.
